Before Queen Glaze and I-Me-Nut left the Empire of Clange, Gee-Jaye approached the queen. "Your Majesty," said Gee-Jaye, "It would be in our best interest that we don't tell anyone who I am. Let's just pretend that I am your cousin and I am suffering from a broken heart, that's why I need to be near you, all right?"
Queen Glaze sighed and nodded. Gee-Jaye smiled encouragingly and the trio made their way back to El-El Land.
When they arrived at the Castle, they noticed that everything was unusually quiet. "Where did everybody go?" wondered Queen Glaze. I-Me Nut, the queen and the royal bodyguard made their way to the throne room.
As they threw opened the door, they suddenly heard people screaming, "Surprise!" The room was full of people and standing in the front was the five royal advisors.I-Me-Nut and the queen nearly jumped out of their skins but Gee-Jaye surveyed the room calmly.
"What's all this?" asked the queen in fright.
"It's a welcome home party, Your Majesty," said Jasmine gleefully, "It was Lady Elle-Phee's idea!"
"Oh!" said Queen Glaze, relieved, "Why, thank you all! This is lovely! I never had a welcome home party before! Everybody, please enjoy yourselves!"
Everybody in the room cheered. The Queen beckoned the five royal advisors to her. "Ladies, this is Lady Gee-Jaye. She is from Clange and she will be staying with us for a while," said the Queen.
"Cousin?" asked Jae-Wye puzzle, "But..."
Before Jae-Wye could finish her sentence, Queen Glaze pulled her towards her. "Lady Jae-Wye, could I speak to you for a minute?" she asked.
Queen Glaze dragged Jae-Wye to the corner of the room. "Shhhh.." whispered Queen Glaze, looking over her shoulder.
"What's going on, Your Majesty?" Jae-Wye whispered back, "I've never seen Lady Gee-Jaye before and I don't think she's on your family tree!"
"She's not," replied Queen Glaze softly, "She's actually my bodyguard. Apparently the Duke of Helphe wants me assassinated!" Jae-Wye gave a gasp of horror.
"She's also undercover. There is an assassin in our midst and we don't know who it is. The codename is Smoking Mouse," continued the Queen, "Promise me you won't tell anybody about this!"
"Cross my heart and hope to die! Stick a needle in my eye!" promised Jae-Wye. The two made their way back to where the advisors were waiting.
"Cousin dear, would you mind getting me a drink? Thank you!" asked Queen Glaze sweetly. Gee-Jaye nodded and left the group.
"Look Ladies, I would appreciate it if you could keep this to yourself. My cousin has unfortunately suffered from a bad relationship breakup and well, her emotional state is a little unstable," said Queen Glaze. All of us murmured sympathetically.
"Perhaps the SecretKeeper can help her," suggested Elle-Phee, "She is after all, a healer!"
Queen Glaze looked at Jae-Wye in panic. "Much as I love to help, Your Majesty," I said, "But there is no cure for broken-heart. Only time can heal, or in some cases, nothing can be done."
The queen gave a sigh of relief. "I understand, SecretKeeper." she said, "Come on, let's enjoy ourselves!" and all of us joined in the celebration.
A few days later...
I was making my way back to my quarters when I bumped into Her Majesty. "Good morning, Your Majesty," I said as I curtsied.
"Good morning, SecretKeeper," replied the queen, "Smoking Mouse!"
I stared at her blankly. "Excuse me, Your Majesty?" I asked puzzled.
"Smoking Mouse!" insisted Queen Glaze.
"Er.... Puffing Rodent? Sizzling Rat?" I replied, "Are we playing some word game, Your Majesty?"
"Never mind, SecretKeeper. Good day!" said the queen as she marched off, leaving me there scratching my head in wonder.
As Queen Glaze enter her chamber, she saw Gee-Jaye waiting for her. "Any progress?" she queried. Gee-Jaye shook her head.
"Your three advisors, Lady Elle-Phee, Lady Jasmine and the SecretKeeper, they are tight. I couldn't get any information out of them. I can't find anything about their past." said Gee-Jaye.
"What about Lady Wrath-Na?" asked the queen.
"Well, she is what she say she is. Her family owns a chain of coffee shops but the information is a little vague." replied Gee-Jaye.
"Try harder!" insisted Queen Glaze, "Look, the faster you can find this assassin, the faster you can return to your family in Clange, right?"
Gee-Jaye nodded. "I know, Your Majesty. I'm trying my best to find this Smoking Mouse. I have to find a way to interrogate your staff but I don't want to raise any suspicion." she said.
"I know you're doing your best, Gee-Jaye. I'm sorry if I'm a little hard on you but this whole assassination thing is getting on my nerves."
"I understand, Your Majesty," said Gee-Jaye.
And so the hunt begins.....
